Legal Empowerment Network

What is it?

InternetBar.Org (IBO) is creating an international online legal empowerment network comprised of lawyers and legal professionals who donate their time and expertise to help further the rule of law globally. These lawyers are from all over the world and donate time to be available online to answer questions, respond to queries, and help advise individuals who otherwise would not have access to rule of law due to monetary or location based restrictions. These individuals can interact with legal professionals online to get advice on contract formation, family law, adoption policies, and the list goes on.

In many areas where rule of law infrastructures are just beginning to develop legal and governmental officials could benefit greatly from being able to talk to lawyers with previous experience in their field. Especially individuals or agents who are trying to comply with international laws and standards, such as those propagated by international adoption policies.

InternetBar is working towards the launch of a series of programs that provide individuals in conflict zones, and developing areas revenue earning opportunities in conjunction with using legal resources from the IBO empowerment network. While the first of these programs focus on using legal resources for commercial purposes, the process participants go through in accessing legal resources online can be used regardless of subject matter. Three of these projects can be explored in the links under this section "PeaceTones", "Micro Commerce", and "Verified Identities".

As our pool of participants grows our programs will expand to cover more complex areas of law and hopefully help to fill some of the gaps between knowledge, location, and need that are faced when trying to further the rule of law in an international setting.

Why is it interesting?

Right now we all have the opportunity to greatly affect the lives of people that we may never meet with simple small donations of time, money, or resources. Even doing something that provides mutual benefit (such as offering small digital work) to people in areas just beginning to break down the digital divide can open pathways for more digital explorations and opportunities. By helping keep these projects going with work, money, time, or even advice you create the foundation blocks for economic equality, legal empowerment, and cross-cultural communications globally.
