I.Plan

I plan to make some predictions about the world today; I will continue by describing the characteristics of the legal environment; and finally, the characteristics of the legal profession.

The legal profession is a diversified profession. It differs according to the jurisdiction, the organisation of the bar, the location, size and structure of the firm, the type of law, the type of clients, speciality, etc. of each lawyer. Therefore, in the same way that it is difficult to generalise, for instance, on the trends of trade – from the street peddler to the department store chain – it is equally difficult to generalise on the trends in the legal profession as a whole 3.
